The world has witnessed unprecedented population surge and economic boom since the industrious revolution took hold. The advancement of economy and population has given rise to deteriorating environment pollution and increasing exhaustion of natural resources. Therefore, worsening environment problems are of global concern, one of which is the ozone layer depletion.Since ozone hole made its debut in 1970s,scientists all over the world have never ceased their steps to contain its worsening trends.Though harsh reality makes it imperative for us to turn things around,a lot of studies have been made related to this field by a great number of specialists and scholars.Works with such detailed documentations about the evolution of the ozone hole, factors that influence stratospheric ozone—favorably or unfavorably and impacts on every aspect of organisms are rare,so are the Chinese version of this kind.It is of highly relevance that the translator select Ozone Hole,Past,Present,Future as the translation task and research project. This paper is a translation practice report with the fourth chapter of the book Ozone Hole,Past,Present,Future as it foundation. The main effects of UVR on human, animals, plank ton, ocean acidification as well as climate are examined. What's more, the ways by which the impacts exert their influence and how human beings help to deteriorate the detrimental effects are also catalogued in Chapter four. This translation practice report mainly consists of introduction, introduction of the source text, the description of translation process, translation difficulties and methods as well as conclusion. The introduction gives a brief idea of background, theoretical guidance and significance of the translation project. The introduction of the source text includes a brief introduction of the authors, the content and linguistic features of the source text. The main content of translation process includes pre-translation,while-translation and quality control,in which the pre-translation is mainly about correcting errors of the source text, commanding a whole idea of style and reading parallel books;difficulties in translation are briefly summarized, meanings of several words are chosen and glossary chart is made in while-translation.The part of translation difficulties and methods is the highlight of the report. In this chapter, difficulties of terms, long and complex sentences encountered in translation are analyzed and methods to deal with these problems are listed under the guidance of Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory with an aim to probe into the effective ways to convey the information. Finally, problems to be solved, relevant considerations, experience and lessons to the translation practice are summarized in the last part.
