English writing is one of the four language skills which are listening,speaking,reading and writing.It is also the most difficult and challenging skill among four basic skills.It not only demands students to master a certain number of vocabulary,but also requires them to express their ideas freely and logically.In the past years,much attention has been paid to English writing teaching in senior high school,but the effect of teaching is far from satisfactory.Under the circumstance,some scholars have started to introduce the lexical-chunk teaching to improve the English writing teaching effectively.The study focuses on how lexical-chunk teaching is used into English writing teaching in senior high school and how lexical chunk affects English writing grades.The writer analyses the current situation of English writing in senior high school and learns about the classification of lexical chunks by Nattinger and DeCarrico.And the experiment is carried out in Grade one in one senior high school in Shenyang.In order to find the impact on how to use lexical-chunk teaching in English writing teaching,the writer takes an action research in the form of examination,questionnaire and interview.Based on the results and data analysis of pretest and post-tests,the study found the connection between lexical-chunk teaching and English writing grades.The analysis of collected data shows that the interest and awareness both have been drawn in using lexical chucks for students.Based on the results of pretest and post-test,the lexical-chunk teaching has gone up to a higher level in the variety of using lexical chunk in students' writing.Such conclusions have been found as follow: the amount and type of lexical chunk have an obvious increase in students' writing;it is proved that there should be a positive correlation between the amount and type of lexical chucksand students' writing level in the fluency and the overview structure.In short,by applying lexical-chunk teaching in English writing teaching Students can benefit a lot in improving students' writing quality,which is worthwhile to spread widely in English writing teaching in senior high school.
