With the deepening of the curriculum reform,traditional teaching mode of English reading has been difficult to adapt to the need of foreign language teaching reform.Dialogic teaching accompanied by the emergence of new curriculum reform,emphasizes the concept of equality,communication,listening and sharing in class.Reading teaching is an activity based on texts to exchange ideas between teachers and students,including multiple dialogues,such as dialogues between teachers and texts,dialogues between teachers and students and so on.Dialogic teaching has provided a new revelation to English reading teaching.It has great theoretical and practical significance to improve students' ability of using language comprehensively.Therefore,it requires further study on how to effectively implement English reading teaching as a dialogic process.The innovation of this study lies in the combination of dialogic teaching and English reading classes,exploring the application of dialogic teaching in the field of English reading teaching.There are three questions designed in this thesis:(1)Whether are there any improvements in the ability of students to establish in-depth dialogues with the texts?(2)Whether are there any improvements in the ability of students to use English comprehensively or not?(3)Whether are there any improvements in the students' critical thinking ability?The study selected two freshmen classes with similar English performances from Linfen College of Shanxi Normal University to carry out the study and to conduct the dialogic teaching experiment for one semester to explore the impact of dialogic reading teaching on students' English reading level by analyzing the changes in students' test scores before and after the experiment.After the experiment,the author used SPSS 17.0 to have a statistical analysis on the data,which proved the effectiveness of implementing dialogic teaching in college English reading classes.In addition,the author conducted questionnaires of the sixty students from two classes and carried out interviews to six students and two English teachers.The results of the interviews were generally consistent with the results of the questionnaires.The results show that students can establish in-depth dialogues with the texts.They have dramatic improvements not only in using English comprehensively and their reading interest,but also they've made great progress in critical thinking and innovation.Dialogic reading teaching greatly improves the enthusiasm and autonomy of students' English reading,which helps to form a harmonious relationship between teachers and students.Dialogic reading teaching mode has adapted to the need of our country's social development and international communication.At the same time,the proposal of English dialogic reading teaching mode is great of significance for improving the current situation of English reading classes in college and promoting the reform of English reading courses.
