A Translation Report On Helping Your Anxious Teen(Chapters 4-6)

This is an English-Chinese translation report on the Helping Your Anxious Teen(Chapters 4-6),wrote by a famous clinical psychologist and anxiety expert,Shila Achar Josephs.There is no Chinese translation of this book before the translator began to do this project.Chapters 4-6 mainly study the different forms of adolescent anxiety,so as to provide effective solutions for parents and family education.This translation report was based on the translation project and carried out under the theoretical guidance of Text Typology.Reiss provided Text Typology according to the functions of the language.She mentioned that there are three types of texts:informative text,expressive text,and operative text,and one text may have more than one kind of text type.By analyzing the languages of the source text,the translator finds that the source text is an informative text and it also has characteristics of operative text.The translation of informative text should be without redundancy and accurately transmit the information of the source text;the translation of the operative text should persuade the readers and make an appeal in the readers.So the translator mainly employs literal translation method to accurately transmit the information of the source text,and also applies adaptive methods to achieve the appellative function of the operative text.Meanwhile,the translator finished this project by using computer aided translation tool memoQ with other two partners.Translators create new projects,term bases,and unified the terms during the whole translation process.This translation report includes six chapters.Chapter One is an introduction of this translation project.Chapters Two is an introduction to the source text.Chapter Three is an introduction to the theoretical guidance of this translation project.Chapter Four is the translation process.Chapters Five is the case analysis,it provides several cases about the solution of the key and difficult translation.Chapters Six is the conclusion of the whole report.
