This is a report on E-C translation of Helping Your Anxious Teen written by Sheila Achar Josephs.The translator chooses chapters 1-3 as the source text of this translation project.This book introduces what irritates teens' anxiety,and what kind of parenting strategies that parents can adopt in dealing with different types of anxiety.The translator will be an English teacher in a senior high school after graduation.She hopes she can learn more about teenager's anxiety from the translation of this book,which is of great significance for her work.The translator aims to help Chinese parents to guide their anxious teenagers with the Chinese version of this book.This book is a science and technology text,the translation of which should be objective,accurate and plain.As such,this translation practice is conducted by Skopos theory,the kernel theory of German Functionalist school.The basic rules of Skopos theory are skopos rule,coherence rule(intratextual coherence)and fidelity rule(intertextual coherence).The translator copes with difficulties under the guidance of the three rules of Skopos theory.In the report,she analyzes the methods she employed in dealing with the language difficulties and technical problems encountered in the process of translation.The translator hopes to better master the translation theory and methods through this translation practice,and enhance her translation ability so as to explore more meaningful strategies in the translation of science and technology texts.This translation report consists of five parts.The first part is introduction,mainly introducing the background and significance of the translation project.The second part focuses on the source text,which includes the introduction of author,the content and the language features of the source text.The third part relates to project processes.Pre-translation preparations,in-translation and post-translation are described in this part.Pre-translation includes the preparation of source text,parallel texts,translation theory,and CAT tools.In-translation refers to supplementation and unification of terminology,and technical problems and solutions.Post-translation concludes proofreading and format revision of the translated text.The next part is about the application of Skopos theory in the translation.It introduces the development of Skopos theory and three rules of Skopos theory.It analyses the difficulties in this translation practice and summarizes the methods adopted by the translator to cope with the difficulties under the guidance of the three rules of Skopos theory.The last part summarizes the achievements and problems that need to be solved from the translation practice.
