With the rapid development of tourism at home and abroad,China has successfully become one of the four major touring reception countries,thus the translation of tourism texts has become increasingly prominent.This report is mainly intended to explore the types of tourism text partition under the guidance of Peter Newmark's Text typology and the translation techniques in different texts.This paper is composed by three different parts including Museum Overview,Collection of Fine Works and Friends of the Museum.First,this report introduces the background of tourism texts and museum texts,and then elaborates Text Typology and the semantic translation and communicative translation theory of Peter Newmark.In the process of translation,the characteristics of the selected materials are analyzed in detail and divided into informative text,expressive text and vocative text.Through the analysis of examples,the author discusses the translation strategies of imperative sentences,Chinese abbreviations and the omission of nouns in the informative text,the translation methods of patterns in artifacts,culture-loaded words and classical Chinese poetry in the expressive text,and the translation methods of passive voice and long and complicated sentences in the vocative text.The author has deemed that in tourism text translation,three steps,such as the analysis of the linguistic and stylistic features of texts,the classification of text types and the selection of translation strategies and methods,should be applied to translation practice,which will give inspiration to the novice translators.
