The importance of grammar teaching in high school English teaching is beyond doubt.However,the traditional grammar teaching method of explaining rules and doing exercises often fails to arouse students' learning enthusiasm and It's hard to achieve satisfactory teaching results.Secondly,the English curriculum standard for senior middle school advocates experience,practice,participation,the cooperation and communication learning way and teaching way,and points out that "written examination should avoid mere grammatical knowledge and increase the contextual application questions".It can be seen that it is very important to re examine the position of grammar teaching in the background of the new curriculum,and to explore the effective teaching strategy of grammar teaching.There is no doubt that situational teaching is in line with this requirement.The core of situational teaching method is to create language learning environment through various vivid ways,and arouse students' positive emotional experience,so as to help students understand and grasp what they have learned.This teaching method is conducive to training students' practical ability in grammar knowledge,improving students' interest in learning,improving students' initiative and enthusiasm in using language,changing passive learning into active learning and improving learning efficiency.Although there are many researches on situational teaching method in grammar teaching at present,and the study of the specific grammatical modules is less.Therefore,it is necessary for teachers to explore more effective grammar teaching methods,not only to meet the teaching requirements of the new curriculum standard,but also to improve the effect of grammar teaching.We should also study and improve corresponding teaching methods for different grammatical modules,so as to make specific analysis of specific problems.Based on this background,this paper studies the theory and practice of the application of Situational Teaching Method in teaching high school English modal verbs in this paper,through the observation method,questionnaire survey method,test method,and I study the students of Harbin sixth middle school on English modals verbs class teaching by using Situational Teaching Method.based on these theories' supporting,I get a conclusion the applycation of situational teaching method in the teaching of high school English modal verbs is.And make the principles of application of situational teaching method in the teaching of high school English modal verbs,methods and specific implementation process,and gives suggestions on English modal verbs in the teaching process of situational teaching method.The purpose of this study is to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of situational teaching method in the teaching of modal verbs in high school,in order to provide valuable reference for the practice of grammar teaching in the future.
