Before the mid-20 th century,the prototype of the Johor Bahru Chinese society is overseas Chinese community of China.After the independence of Malaysia in 1957,with the change of historical conditions,the overseas Chinese community of China successfully transformed into local Chinese society of Malaysia.Since the opening of the city,Johor Bahru Chinese society consciously and proactively on the inheritance and dissemination of Chinese cultural tradition for a hundred years.They have a firm belief-agree with the Chinese culture and adhere to Chinese education.They want to deliver the education by their own native culture.Behind of this firm belief is the preservation of the core ideas and values inherited from the Chinese culture supporting the Johor Bahru Chinese society and the local Malaysia culture of the collision,integration,mutual adaptation and then proudly posture issued by the Johor Bahru society Cultural Body-"Culture of The Johor Old Chinese Temple Spirit".Under the influence of the "Temple Spirit",Johor Bahru has Malaysia's largest Chinese primary school and independent secondary school as well as the country's first Chinese-run non-profit institution of higher learning-Southern University College.Besides China,Hong Kong,Taiwan and other Chinese enclaves,mainly rely on the development of civil power and to retain such a complete Chinese education system,adhere to,inherit the Chinese culture of the fortress is not by the fortuity of history.Culture of Johor Bahru Chinese society possess the Chinese cultural traditions and widely absorb the local Malaysian culture so is an excellent cultural achievement which worthy of academic research and exploration.
