Practice Report On Consecutive Interpreting Of The 4th Course Of China-africa Legal Professionals Exchange Project

This thesis is a practice report on the lecture of Chinese Civil Procedure Law.As the interpreter for the 4^th Course of China-Africa Legal Professionals Exchange Program,the author did three-hour consecutive interpreting without taking notes for one of these lectures.Based on the voice records,what was said in the class was transcribed and collected.Study on the difficulties encountered during the process of interpreting was closely conducted,which included unfamiliarity of legal terms,lack of knowledge,and complexity of legal language.In addition,the possible influence or results the difficulties may lead to are also discussed in-depth,such as reduced accuracy in legal language,the extension of the interpreter's reaction time and trouble of understating for the audience.With reference to the Interpretive Theory,the coping strategies used are analyzed accordingly,which include,equivalence of legal terms,paraphrasing and strengthening preparation work.The whole report is separated into five parts:Introduction to the task,Features of Legal Language,Interpretive Theory,Case Analysis,and Conclusion.
