Report On The Translation Of The Third Chapter Of Scientific Writing:Easy When You Know How

This paper is an English-Chinese translation project report.The source text of the translation report comes from the third chapter of the book: Scientific Writing: Easy When You Know How.This book is a guide book on academic writing.It also includes paper writing,publication,peer review,speech style,grammar,punctuation,etc.This book provides references and guidance for relevant researchers of academic writing as well as researchers who need to publish papers.Describing how to write each part of a paper,the third chapter is a crucial chapter of this book.This paper consists of five chapters.Chapter One is the introduction,which mainly introduces the background,importance of the translation project and report layout.Chapter Two analyses the contents and features of the source text.Chapter Three mainly introduces the theory of Functional Equivalence and its guidance for the project.Chapter Four studies and analyzes the difficulties and problems that the translator encountered in the translation process at the lexical,syntactic and textual level.With the guidance of functional equivalence,the translator lays emphasis on readers' respond and puts forward respective solutions,such as,addition and omission,voice conversion,sentences division and reconstruction,etc.Chapter Five offers the conclusion,which illustrates the lessons gained from the translation project and points out the insufficiency in the project.It is the translator's hope that this report will also provide some suggestions and inspiration for other translators in this field.
