Harold Pinter, the British playwright, won the Nobel prize for literature in 2005.Since that time,he became the focus of world attention. The home and abroad newspapers and magazines and network seized the opportune moment to make comments on Pinter's award, thus setting off a new upsurge of researches on Pinter's works. This translation report is based on the translation practice of the Pinter's drama,A Slight Ache. The two features of drama,“readability” and “performability”,bring much controversy to drama translation research. How to cope with this difficulty and how to fully express “Pinteresque” in this translation practice become the great challenges for the translator. This translation report includes five chapters. The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the translation project and its significance;the second chapter is pre-translation process, analyzing the linguistic features of the original text and documents parallel texts and other relevant texts, and professor's assistance;the third chapter talks about Skopos theory in translation and the reasons for choosing this theory as guidance;the fourth chapter is case analysis, analyzing specific cases at lexical and syntactic levels, dialogues and stage directions of the play, and the challenges on stylistic translation. The fifth chapter is summary, summarizing the experience, limitations and reflections on the translation. The writing of this translation report aims to make more Chinese readers learn about Pinter's dramas and to provide some help for the domestic study of Pinter's works. At the same time, the author hopes that the translation could provide practice strategies for the translation of Pinter's works and provide the domestic readers with the firsthand reading reference of A Slight Ache.
