In the fall of 2001,China’s new round of basic education curriculum reform was officially launched,and in the fall of 2002 promoted.It is the first time to set up the focus-------to learn English since the third grade of primary school-----in the reform.As the main characters of the curriculum implementation,teachers are an important condition and necessary safeguard for the smooth progress of the new curriculum reform,and teachers’ adaptation to the new curriculum will directly affect the quality of curriculum reform,which eventually influences teaching effect and students’ development.After more than ten years’ development,the construction of English teachers in primary schools has attained great scores and achieved a great breakthrough from nothing to something.However,there are still many problems in the current team of English teachers owing to the late development of primary English.Consequently,it still has theoretical and practical significance to study the current situation,discover existing problems,and work out solutions to the existing problems of English teachers in primary school.This paper mainly uses the Standard of English Curriculum in Compulsory Education issued by the National Education ministry in 2011,combined with the Professional Standard of Primary and Secondary School Teachers issued in 2012,and supplemented by the requirements of various documents issued by Shaanxi province to set up the research with questionnaire,interview and classroom observation on the current situation of English teaching staff from some aspects such as the structure of English teachers,the percentage between English teachers and students,the professional development of those teachers and the phenomenon of continuing education.It is found that the present situation of English teachers in this area is not satisfactory,and there still exist many problems,including the lack of core teachers and experienced teachers,a certain number of teachers whose firstfrequency in education training and singleness in content and teachers’ low motivation in teaching research.On the basis of the above problems,this paper analyses the reasons of the existing problems from the following aspects,such as the investment in the construction of teaching staff,personnel recruiting system,the importance of leaders’ awareness,the design of subjects in primary school and teachers’ own factors.And finally this paper puts forward some effective ways,as the implementation of various recruiting channels to improve the structure of English teachers in primary schools,the effective training to improve the quality of primary school English teachers,strengthen the backbone of primary school English teachers in order to promote English teaching in primary school,in order to promote teaching effect by the improvement of current situation of English staff in primary school.
