Research On Tai Jingnong’s Novel And Creation Under The View Of Folklore

Tai Jingnong,a writer of Anhui province,was very active in the literary world of Chinese mainland from the 1920 s to the 1940 s.He wrote a great deal of poems,novels and prose,and made many achievements.He entered the literary world with poetry,and became famous with novels.Most of his novels are based on the people in his hometown.He constructed an art world by writing a lot of folk affairs,and his novels described the bitter blood and tears of the people at the bottom of the patriarchal village and showed the social style of the west of Anhui province in the early 20 th century.Taking folklore as the point of view,this paper examines the folk customs involved in Tai Jingnong’s novels,explores the causes of folklorization and finds out the value of folk customs as texts in his novels.This study is divided into three chapters: the first chapter sorts out the folk affairs in Tai Jingnong’s novels according to the classification of folklore,and discusses them from the spiritual,social and linguistic aspects.The novel deals with the spiritual folk customs of deism,fatalism,typology,and so on.It describes the social marriage customs of chongxi,house-changing marriage,mercenary marriage,as well as the language folk customs with local characteristics.The second chapter discusses the reason of folklorization from objective and subjective aspects.First of all,the writer grows up in the countryside of rich folk culture,and has been exposed to the local folk customs since childhood.Secondly,from the author himself,he personally participated in the collection of ballad,returned home to collect a lot of folk materials,accumulated theoretical knowledge,which has laid a solid foundation for his novel creation.In addition,he was associated with Lu Xun more than ten years,Lu Xun and his works had effect on Tai Jingnong.In addition,the local complex is the inner driving force of creation,which urges them to focus on the people in their hometown and extend the brush to the bottom of the countryside.The third chapter mainly studies the narration function of folk affairs in Tai Jingnong’s novels,and discusses the role of folk affairs in character shaping,plot setting and theme revealing.Writing folk makes characters stand out clearly.In addition,folk affairs as the main line of the novel throughout the text,the plot of the novel ups and downs,but also in the form of details into the novel,enrich the novel.More importantly,folk customs play an important role in the theme revelation and making the theme of the work profound,which is not only the best example to criticize the feudal customs and expose the darkness of society,but also the powerful tool to dissect the national soul and criticize the national inferiority.
