Study Of Guizhou Miao's Festival Translation From Chinese To English Based On The Translational Action Theory

Miao's festival is the carrier and could be regarded as the spiritual spokesmen of its culture.An appropriate introduction to Miao's festival in other languages,for instance,English,can promote the communication among nations and countries.Although there are lots of scholars who have begun to pay more attention to the translation of ethnic festivals in recent years,the translation study in this field is still insufficient,lacking standard and systematic guidance.The publicity of Guizhou Miao's festival is insufficient,which impedes the external and intercultural communication of Chinese culture.The core of Guizhou Miao's festival translation is the intentional,communicative,intercultural and text-processing action;it is helpful to inherit and develop Miao's culture by translating Guizhou Miao's Festival based on the translational action theory.Based on the translational action theory,this thesis discusses the translation strategies of Guizhou Miao's festival translation from three aspects: intentional action,text-processing action,and intercultural action.When translating the names of Miao's festivals,the translator needs to obey the economy principle;when translating the texts on Miao's festivals,the translator should follow the loyalty principle,that is to say,the translation should convey as much information about the source language culture as possible in the target language,and the style and form of the target text should be coherent with the requirement of the target language;when translating the culture-specific words,the translator needs to emphasize the importance of intercultural communication and the translator's subjectivity.In a word,the translation strategies that the translator chooses should serve the translation purpose.The translator should pay attention to the communicative function of target language in the target culture,and lay more emphasis on the target culture and readers rather than the source text.With the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiatives and the promotion of the soft cultural power,the intercultural communication among nations has become the main theme of the times.The Chinese-to-English translation of Miao's festivals can contribute to the global understandings of the cultural,political,social value of Miao's festival culture.
