A Practice Report On The Translation Of A Wrestling Life(Chapters 11-16)

This practice report is based on the translation of A Wrestling Life.The task described in this report concerns Chapter 11 to Chapter 16.The report presents the process of translating from English to Chinese in biographical texts.It focuses on the problems that arise in the translation of words,sentences and paragraphs in biographical texts.Combined with the relevant translation theory,some corresponding translation strategies are proposed.According to the translation task,this report is composed of five chapters,concerning task description,process description,preparation for translation,case analysis and summary.The first chapter is a description of the source,content of the translation task and the translation requirements.The second chapter describes the process of translation preparations.The third chapter describes the preparations for translation of biographical texts,the proper nouns related to the content of translated texts,and so on.The fourth involves a multidimensional analysis of the strategies adopted for translating difficult words and sentence patterns.The last chapter summaries the whole process of translation and presents its implications for the future.It can be realized from this translation practice that biographical texts are uniquely personal and emotional in nature,so the translator must try to figure out the author's innermost activities in the process of translation.Both the vocabulary and the syntactic structure have their own distinctive features,which require the translator to be familiar with the stylistic features of biographical literature,to understand and master the corresponding translation principles,techniques,and to flexibly put them into practice.
