With the social development and governmental focus on science popularization work,science museums meet a growth spurt as a major venue for science popularization.Special science theatres,a unique highlight of science museums,are flourishing accordingly.However,when the construction is finished,most special science theatres face issues like equipment aging,low film refreshing rate,low box office,rare education program and little audience,which run far from the due influence of special science theatres with weak influence and brand effect,and low science communication efficiency.Guangdong Science Center is equipped with 4 different special science theatres as a unique feature over the nation.With 10 years development,the above issues raise accordingly.Moreover,the tide of digital technology development and fast change of internet form a conflict with GDSC’s original business concept and mode.In such context,special science theatre’s development orientation and function become a new research topic.Using research methods like questionnaire,document analysis and case study,this paper,by analyzing the current problems of Guangdong Science Center,probes into issues like unsatisfied equipment for education programs,few education programs in single form,reconstruction of talent team,and shortage of marketing.The author proposed the countermeasure of “jumping out the single filming function” to view science films as a carrier for outreach program of special exhibitions and training course,so as to form the new mode of filming with special exhibition and training course together,so as to exert the special science theatres in GDSC for multiple education activities as a brand to realize the ultimate aim of science communication.
