The “2017 Asia Media Summit” was held in Qingdao on June 6.This is the second time that China has held this conference since 2010.The summit aims to further promote media exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries in the Asia Pacific region,and the countries along the Silk Road,and highlights the silk road spirit of “peace and cooperation,openness,inclusiveness,mutual learning and mutual benefit”.During the 2017 Asian Media Summit,the author was the liaison officer of the 49-member Asian Media Seminar and successfully completed the escort interpreting.As one of the most influential interpreting theories,Interpretive Theory prioritizes “meaning” and believes that “meaning” instead of “linguistic signs” is what interpreters should convey.The Triangle Model of Interpretive Theory defineds a new interpreting procedure: the compression of source language,deverbalization and expressing.This paper takes the interpreting experience during the 2017 Asian Media Summit as the research object,aiming to apply the Interpretive Theory to escort interpretation.The author specifically analyzes the factors that influence the interpreting process.She also combines the three processes of Interpretive Theory with translation methods such as additional translation,omission,and reorganization.The author explains the influence of non-linguistic factors to deepen her understanding of Interpretive Theory.She also summarizes the problems in practice and provides corresponding solutions.Meanwhile,the author hopes that the report could provide guidance for future practice.
