Over 40 years of reform and opening up,China?s tertiary industry has achieved tremendous development,among which tourism has become one of the pillar industries for the development of economy.According to Shaanxi Tourism Development Committee,Shaanxi receives a total number of 40.969 million tourists by May,2018,with an increase of 35.3% year-on-year.Besides,Buddhist tourism,as a religious cultural tourism,is also booming in China.China Buddhism Association points out that there are 8 Buddhist Ancestral Temple,among which 6 are located in Shaanxi.Therefore more and more foreign visitors are attracted to Shaanxi to learn about Buddhist culture.However,there are few specified English publications on Buddhist tourism and the translation quality should be urgently raised.This paper takes the Buddhist tourism interpretive texts in Famen temple and Da Ci?en temple as research objective and conducts this research from the perspective of reception aesthetic theory to explore feasible principles and strategies.A field study is adopted in this thesis by taking pictures.After the collection of standard Buddhist tourism interpretive texts,the author classifies the collected texts and transcribes them from pictures.And then the problems from three different levels of fusion of horizon;aesthetic distance and horizon of expectation are summarized.Furthermore this research suggests that on the one hand translators should take readers? understanding and reception into consideration to shorten the aesthetic distance between the translated texts and the readers and on the other hand broaden the tourists existing horizons by preserving specific Buddhist culture.Besides,some strategies including addition,omission,and analogy and so on are provided to stimulate the foreign visitors? aesthetic experience effectively.The present study made great efforts to explore feasible principles and strategies for Buddhist tourism interpretive texts from the perspective of reception aesthetic theory,aiming to provide a theoretical basis for tourists-centered translation of Buddhist tourism interpretive texts and to improve the translation quality in Buddhist scenic spots.It is sincerely hoped that this research could be a reference for further studies in this field and at the same time contribute to the translation quality of Buddhist tourism interpretive texts.
