A Practice Report On The Translation Of Chapter 2 Of German Universities: A Narrative Of Personal Experience

This report is a description and analysis of the translation of the second Chapter of German Universities: A Narrative of Personal Experience.The translator was invited by a teacher of Hebei University for his research project to translate the second chapter of this book,which was included in the appendix of his work.This report consists of five chapters: task description,process description,preparation for translation,case analysis and summary,among which preparation for translation and case analysis are the main part.The first two chapters are a generalization of the source,translating process and revising process of this task.Chapter Three,preparation for translation,elaborates the preparation made by the translator of the present report from two parts,vocabulary preparation and analysis of parallel text.In case analysis,some translating cases during the translation are analyzed,aiming to find out what kind of methods are needed to deal with the translating task.There are two parts in Chapter Four: difficulties of translation and translation of rhetorical devices,with its former part consisting of words translation and sentences translation and its latter including translation of metaphor and irony.Chapter Five,summary,focuses on the experience of the translating with the hope that it may provide some help for other translators.
