Ethical Reflection On Big Data Technology

As a new technology revolution,the big data technology is a double-edged sword,which not only provides people with convenience in data collection,storage,the ease of use,and extra value that cannot be easily predicted,but also brings new ethical problems,such as invasion of privacy,the lost of controls in personal privacy,threads to national and personal security,invasion of national data sovereignty,and increasing data gaps.This paper primarily analyzes the emergence of the ethical problems in big dat a technology by using theories in the fields of philosophy and ethics.Specifically,w e first present ethical problems hidden behind the big data technology.Then,we dem onstrate root causes of the problems,which are the consequence of lack of ethical co nsciousness and social responsibility among data users,lack of seriousness when tec hnology is applied,the openness of networks and lack of restrictions in data access,national strategies and economic interests,and lack of restrictions by law.Finally,we also provide theoretical basis and ethical countermeasures for addressing these probl ems.From the perspective of ethical management to promote the healthy evelopment of the big data industry.
