| It is known that empathy,interpersonal communication efficacy and peer relationship have a great effect on the social development of adolescent.The current domestic and overseas study on junior high school students’ interpersonal communication efficacy is still at the exploratory stage,and the study on the relationship between empathy,interpersonal communication efficacy and peer relationship among junior high school students is really in want.Therefore,the research on empathy,interpersonal communication efficacy and peer relationship is the objective demand of adolescent psychological development as well as the realistic need of mental health education.On the base of the literature analysis,this research adopted the corresponding questionnaires to investigate empathy,interpersonal communication efficacy and peer relationship of the 610 junior high school students from three middle schools in three Cities—Guangzhou,Changsha and Kunming.And a total of 573 valid data was gained.The study probed into the characteristics of empathy,interpersonal communication efficacy and peer relationship,and analyzed the relationship of the three.Conclusions arrived in this study are as follows:(1)On the average of empathy and its two dimensions,girls are all higher than boys;student cadres are significantly higher than common students,and the manifestation of rankings diversity is all gradually declining from the high ranking to the low ranking.The manifestation of grade diversity in empathy shows a trend of gradual decline from Junior 1 to Junior 3,and Junior 1 is significantly better than Junior 2 and Junior 3.Students in key middle schools have significantly higher cognitive empathy than ordinary middle schools.(2)The obvious difference in gender and types of school are not found in the interpersonal communication efficacy.The significant grade difference is just in the dimension the efficacy of interpersonal communication strategy,and it shows thatJunior 1 is obviously better than Junior 3.In terms of interpersonal communication efficacy and its two dimensions,student cadres are apparently better than common students,and all of them present a distinct tendency of “the high ranking >the middle ranking > the low ranking”.(3)the number distribution of the five types of peer relationship from high to low is: the general,the neglected,the popular,the rejected,the contradictory.The difference of peer acceptance in gender,types of school,student cadre and rankings is all significant.Significant gender difference is found in friendship quality,and negative friendship quality is various in grade,types of school,student cadre and rankings.(4)There is significant correlation among empathy,interpersonal efficacy and peer relationships.Cognitive empathy and affective empathy have positive predictive effect on the interpersonal communication efficacy and the peer relationship.The effect on the peer acceptance from the interpersonal communication efficacy is not significant,the efficacy of interpersonal communication strategy has a significant impact on the quality of friendship.The difference of empathy and interpersonal communication efficacy in various types of peer relationship.(5)The efficacy of interpersonal communication strategy has a partial mediating effect on the relationship between cognitive empathy and the quality of friendship. |
