This is a translation report on the long narrative poem Song of Migration of Nahki people in Yunnan province of China.Based on a love tragedy of a Nahki couple,this poem describes the stories of boys and girls happening in their process of migration,which reflects the history of Nahki people's migration.Originating from oral literature of Nahki people,and being written in Dongba Pictograph,it now has become an important part of intangible cultural heritage of the world.Furthermore,this long poem is considered one of the most important works in “Dongba Literature” and is known as “the three shining stars” in Nahki literature.Hence the translating work is of great theoretical and immediate significance.This report consists of four parts:Part one is introduction,including the background,significance,aims of this translation task,as well as the introduction of the source text;Part two is about the translating process,including preparations for the translation task,analysis of stylistics,exploring the relation between stylistics and translation,and stylistic analysis of Song of Migration.Part three is case study of translating figures of speech.Taking simile,metaphor,and hyperbole as examples,this part also analyzes translation strategies and techniques of figures of speech from a stylistic perspective in detail.The Last part concludes the gains and losses,as well as the future work of this translation task.
