Research On People’s Patriotic Problem During The Period Of The Opium War

Patriotism is the fine tradition of the Chinese nation.Since the reform and opening up,the exchanges between China and the world are becoming more and more frequent.Various foreign trends of thought are pouring into China,it makes the ideology of the Chinese people tend to be diversified.In this complex international and domestic environment,it is particularly necessary to strengthen patriotic education for Chinese people.The Opium War is the beginning of modern Chinese history.During this period,the patriotic or not of the different groups showed contradictions and pluralism.This situation is very prominent and surprising.The object of this article is the patriotic status of the Chinese people during the Opium War,the time of the study was the 1840 s of the Opium War.The author strives to guided by basic principles of Marxism,through consulting the relevant historical materials between China and the West,combined with literature research method,history and logic unification and cross-disciplinary research methods,from the concrete manifestations of the patriotic groups of the ruling groups,front-line generals,soldiers,and ordinary people of the Qing Dynasty,and select representative figures and historical events as typical cases,analyze the complexity and contradiction of the patriotic performance of Chinese people in this period.The Daoguang Emperor and his five imperial denominations,their patriotic actions and knowledge were inadequate,ideas was old-fashioned,and uncertainty.Many of the civil servants who commanded the front-line dictates that patriotism is equal to loyalty,although they have different appellations such as the main battlefield,the main faction,and even the capitulationist.For the main forces of the war zone’s main enemy,the Eight Flags and the Green Camp officers,most officers and soldiers suddenly became the main theme.The actions of the broad masses of people in the war zone and the indifference to the war have become mainstream.Due to the prominent contradictions in the patriotic actions of the above people,there are a series of positive and negative but mainly negative consequences for the up to the country down to the coastal population.There are many reasons for this problem.First,the traditional loyalty of the king and the unification of the interests of the country and the country make the overwhelming majority of people show their patriotism.Second,the combined effects of the decadent feudal rule,the declining social economy,and the backward military science and technology havecaused some people to display an unpaternal and distressing aspect.Through the study,we found that patriotism is bi-directional and historic;the material basis determines the superstructure,the development of patriotism requires the support of the country’s strong economy and strong military power;the hardships of the country first awaken the patriotic enthusiasm of some intellectuals.Learn from ancient times,this study has a certain warning and enlightening effect on the patriotic education and promotion of the people of today.First of all,we should set up a correct view of patriotism;secondly,the spirit of patriotism should go from theory to practice;finally,the spirit of patriotism also needs to keep pace with the times.
