A Comparative Study Of The Text Of John Thompson’s Easiest Piano Course And Faber’s Basic Piano Library

Although John Thompson’s Easiest Piano Course and Faber’s Basic Piano Library do not belong to the same time,the experiences of the author Fibel and Thompson in the two textbooks are very similar,they are all changed from musicians to music educationists,and the piano tutorials that attract the attention of the world are written.The two sets of textbooks,which are used as primary piano teaching materials,are two sets of textbooks in different times,but they all enjoy the love of children all over the world and are widely used by the piano children in various countries.This shows that the two are the best in the piano tutorials.This paper takes these two sets of textbooks as the research object,by using the literature method,the text analysis method and the comparison method,this paper analyzes the teaching content and the textbook characteristics of the two,and probes into the similarities and differences in the five aspects,such as the overall layout,the entry way,the music theory knowledge,the performance skill and the musical annotation,and the teaching material characteristics Thus,we can get a reflection on piano teaching.The design of the two sets of teaching materials conforms to the aesthetic of children,and the selection style of the repertoire is varied and the encouragement style teaching is adopted.The author obtains some reflection on the teaching of the piano.The piano teacher should pay attention to the training of the children’s musical creativity,self-learning ability and music cooperation ability in the course of teaching.I hope that by comparing the contents of the two sets of teaching materials,we can provide some technical support for the domestic Piano educators and learners,and put forward effective teaching suggestions to help the teachers and students to give full play to their advantages,to use the two sets of teaching materials more comprehensively,and to choose the primary piano teaching materials for the majority of the piano instructors.It will provide some reference for children’s piano initiation education in China.
