Poor interpersonal relationship is one of the main factors affecting college students' mental health. The roommate relationship is the most important and basic part of their interpersonal relationships. Some studies have shown that 35% of the causes of college students' psychological adjustment disorders involve dormitory life, and there is a significant correlation between the satisfaction of college students' roommate relationships and their college life satisfaction.Interpersonal communication is the starting point of interpersonal communication, the foundation for establishing interpersonal relationships, and an important means for developing and optimizing good interpersonal relationships. The core of Satir's Model and Transactional Analysis Theory are both communication, and there are studies that prove that the practice activities under the guidance of these two theories can improve people's interpersonal relationships. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of communication styles on the relationship between roommates, and to investigate the effect of group activities based on two theories on improving interpersonal distress in college students' dormitory.Study I measured the communication styles and dormitory interpersonal distress among 438 undergraduate students by the Roommate Relationship Diagnostic Scale and the College Student Communication Scale, and explored the relationship between communication methods and interpersonal distress in the dormitory, and provided Intervention guides to improve interpersonal distress in the dormitory. The results of the study showed that boys and girls only had significant differences in the conversational dimension of the relationship between roommates, and girls were more troubled with conversation than boys.Different disciplines also have significant differences only in conversation, and liberal arts students are significantly more troubled than science students and engineering students. There are significant differences in grades of interpersonal distressin the dormitory. The specific performance is that junior student satisfaction is significantly lower than freshman and senior student, while the grade between sophomore and junior student is significant and is generally a “U”shape. The five kinds of communication methods were significantly correlated with interpersonal satisfaction: There was a significant negative correlation between the appealing and consistent communication methods and the interpersonal satisfaction was positively related with the accusation-type,super-intellectual,and snoring-type communication methods.Study II used front-back experimental design.Sixty-four students from a school were selected as subjects, and they were randomly divided into Satir model group and Transactional Analysis model group by dormitory. They took 8 times of 16-hour Satir model group intervention and communication analysis mode respectively.Group intervention. The pre-test,post-test and track post-test were conducted on the college students' communication style questionnaire and the room-friendship diagnostic scale.Combined with the feedback of the members and the observer, the research aims to examine the intervention effects of the two programs and explore an effective group counseling program to improve interpersonal distress in college student dormitories. The results showed that both interventions effectively improved interpersonal distress in the dorms. Conclusion: The interpersonal disturbances in the dormitory are grade-level differences and are in a “U” shape.the Satir Model and Transactional Analysis Theory based on communication are important concepts that can effectively improve interpersonal distress in the dormitory.
