A Preliminary Study On Ancient Jiao-Dou

There are few records in ancient documents about “Jiao Dou”,and the number of objects unearthed in archaeology at present is only more than100.Its material can be seen at present copper,iron,ceramic and so on.The academic research on "Jiao Dou" and its related problems began in the 1950 s and 1960 s,but the research at that time was much more literature than material.In the name,shape,fashion time,functional use and other issues have always been controversial.This paper combines the ancient documents and the objects unearthed in modern archaeology,tries to analyze and solve the controversial problems about Jiao Dou,and makes further exploration from the angle of archaeology.First of all,this paper analyzes several kinds of objects which are often confused with the “Jiao Dou”,such as "Xing Deng","Yun Dou","Kui","Jiao Hu",and so on.Combined with the records of ancient documents and the material materials unearthed,the paper respectively studies their names and functions in ancient times.It distinguishes them from Jiao Dou,and clarifies the basic form of Jiao Dou.Then,by combing the material data of the excavated Jiao Dou,this paper makes a detailed classification of the examples of the two kinds of materials,metal and ceramic,and on this basis,discusses Jiao Dou of the metal and the ceramic by stages,respectively.Through sorting out the unearthed sites of the two materials and combining the information of the materials,shapes,times,unearthed areas,and so on,the paper makes a spatial analysis of the two materials,and then,according to the historical background,influences the metals.The historical factors of the temporal and spatial distribution changes of the two kinds of ceramic materials are inferred.Finally,the diversified information such as the morphological characteristics,the development of time,the spatial distribution,the unearthed tombs,etc.According to the historical background and a large number of documents,the possible function of "Jiao dou" in ancient times has been speculated and proved.
