It is an English-Chinese translation report based on the translation of Baking in America,which introduces the whole translation task and analyzes problems and challenges met during this translation.The report mainly includes four chapters.The first chapter is a description of the translation task,which includes an introduction to the translation task and the source text,and the significance of the translation.The second chapter introduces the whole process of translation,which contains pre-translation,translation and post-translation.The third chapter is a case analysis of two major challenges met during this translation:the translation of baking terms and baking food names;the conversion of em dashes and double quotation marks.Accordingly,what it points out go as follows:first,the translation of baking terms shall follow the Economy Principle of Language;second,the translation of baking food names can adopt principles and methods for the translation of English and Chinese menu names;third,given the differences between English and Chinese languages,em dashes and double quotation marks may be kept,deleted or added according to specific contexts in translation.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes this translation task mainly from three aspects,consciousness of terminology,consciousness of differences and consciousness of readers,through which the author of the report knows where to make efforts in the future.
