Recent years,with further development of interpreting,more and more researchers focus on the promoting function of Schema Theory in interpreting research,and the improvement of interpreting process and quality under the guidance of Schema Theory.As an indispensable communication tool in globalization,interpreting is a quite complicated cognitive process essentially,which involves the interpreter’s perception,understanding,memory,extracting,transforming,and reproducing of target language,in which all these steps are closely connected.As for the interpreter,it is also an interdisciplinary psychological decision-making process.What is more,in modern cognitive psychology,the Schema Theory mainly expounds the construction of human-being’s psychological model of cognitive process.Therefore,the study on Schema Theory in guiding interpreting cognitive process is quite meaningful for interpreters and related scholars.The author takes one interpreting practice as research material,which is extracted from the matching conference of Ningxia Electric Power Construction Engineering Company(NEPCC)and Saudi Arabia Makkah Investment&Advisory during 2017 China-Arab States Expo,discusses the guiding function of Schema Theory in the cognitive process of Consecutive Interpreting,including listening comprehension,interpreting memory,and interpreting reproduction,trying to show how Linguistic Schema guides listening comprehension,Content Schema guides interpreting memory,and Formal Schema guides reproduction.Through the study on Schema Theory and the analysis of concrete interpreting examples,the author gains a better understanding of interpreting and knows how to overcome the problems encountered in her past interpreting practices under the guidance of Schema Theory.
