The Articulation On Adrian Piper's Works

Conceptual art emerged in Europe and the United States during the1965-1969.Today it has developed into a global art.As a different art category,conceptual art has many explorations in the expression of art form,and it has been different in past work.The article is based on artistic expression of Adrian Piper's work,which explored the changed in the current years.It focuses on the relation of Adrian Piper's early and present work,then analyze the change in forms and contents of her program.The purpose is to explore her difference from other early conceptual artists.Finally,find the inspiration to Chinese artists.The work is investigated from five aspects:First,Adrian Piper's autobiography.Living environment is closely related to her creative content.She lived as an African-American,was deeply influenced her theme,and the reflection of her identity had influenced her later works.This part is a brief introduce about Piper's life and main projects.Second,the development of Adrian Piper in conceptual art.The exploration of conceptual art was not accomplished overnight.Under the guidance of some artists,Piper began the road of conceptual art.She enriched her works in practicing.Third,thoughts' origin of Adrian Piper's work.Different culture shaped Piper's soul,she assimilated in philosophy,literature,music,dance,photography and video.This thoughts broaden her creation,then she enriched form and content in her program.Fourth,the difference and connection between Adrian Piper and other conceptual artists.The early conceptual artist Joseph Beuys is similar in their thought,but they are distinguished by the demands of a different group and the audience's reception of art.Fifth,the significance of Chinese artists from Adrian Piper's work.Self-consciousness' s wake,focus on reality,the fusion of multiculture,no steady form and point on audience's acceptance,all of this is the characteristics of Piper,which can provide some reference for the currentartists.
