A Report On The T Ranslation Of A Brief History Of Henan Opera(Chapter 4)

Henan Opera is an important part of Chinese traditional culture which has been loved by the Chinese people for hundreds of years.With the improvement of China's international status and the strategic conception of Chinese culture going out,the translation of Henan Opera has gradually attracted people's attention.This translation practice is based on the book A Brief History of Henan Opera which was published in July,2015.With concise language,the author provides a text that is comprehensive and easy to read.The translator chose the fourth part of the book which introduces the origins,the development and dissemination and the outline of three kinds of repertoire.The translator discussed in this report the strategies and methods suitable for translating Henan Opera.First,she introduces the translation task,including the source of the translation material,the requirements of the task,the profile of the original.Next,the translator describes the process of the task,including the preparation before translation,the translation process and translation difficulties.The translation strategy mainly based on foreignization.Then,the translator discusses the translation methods,such as free translation,literal translation,transliteration and some translation techniques,like omission,explanation.Finally,the translation practice is reviewed and summarized.The translation of Henan Opera can propel us to study the opera English.It's hoped that the foreign learners and amateurs who interested in Henan Opera will gain valuable information and useful inspiration from this translation practice.
