| The Olympic Games is a great sporting event and it also offers a platform for cultural exchanges.Since the birth of the first Olympic Games mascots which named Waldi,the Olympic mascots have accompanied the Olympic Games more than one hundred years.Each session of the Olympic mascots strive to express the essence of national culture by the shape,color and pattern.In the development process,the Olympic mascot played a important role in the economic,social and cultural benefits to the Olympics.It developed from the well-known public figure to the cultural symbols which reflects a multicultural model and the assumption.The Olympic mascot also conveys the different value and global view in the eastern and the western countries.As a special cultural form to the Olympic Games,it have been paid more and more attention of the worldwide.Obviously,It has become increasingly important part in the Olympic Games.This paper analyzed the Olympic mascot from the perspective of semiotics and regard the mascots as the symbol of the Olympic spirit.Although there are many articles introduce the Olympic mascot from the social,political and economic dimensions.Be aimed at these phenomenons,the novelty of this paper lies in the followings: the theory of Pierce’s Semiotics analyze and explain the meaning of the Olympic mascot,In the meantime,the theory of aesthetics also used to the graphic design.The deep analysis on the value of the Olympic mascot from the semiotics is a new area of research. |
