A Study On The Music Of Lanzhou Drum

Lanzhou Guzi is a folk art that has local characteristics in Lanzhou and is widely spread in Lanzhou and the surrounding counties.It was extremely popular in the late Qing Dynasty and early period of Republic of China.Lanzhou Guzi are rich in subject matter.After the mid-twentieth century,due to political influence and also be influenced by popular music,Lanzhou Guzi goes weak,and this rich ethnic cultural heritage is on the verge of extinction.The lyrics of Lanzhou Guzi are mostly from the ancient literati and the Hanlin Academicians who tend to pay attention to a rhyme and emphasize strict vocabulary full time.Therefore,Lanzhou Guzi has a high value of music and art research.From the view of ethnomusicology,this paper analyzes the music form of Lanzhou Guzi from the perspective of musicology.This paper pays attention to the fieldwork and field investigation of Guzi,and focuses on the historical changes and inheritance of Lanzhou Guzi.Based on the previous research of Lanzhou Guzi,this paper gives a detailed introduction to the accompaniment of Lanzhou Guzi,and makes various analysis of the vocal characteristics,language features,melody and rhythm of Guzi.The paper consists of four chapters.In the first chapter,based on the previous studies,it teases the historical development of Lanzhou Guzi and the noumenon of it.The second chapter visits the inheritors of Lanzhou Guzi through field investigations,and at the same time,conducts a detailed analysis of the form and accompaniment of the performance of Lanzhou Guzi.In the third chapter,based on the field investigation,a detailed music analysis was performed on the lyrics and aria characteristics of Lanzhou Guzi.In the fourth chapter,it deeply analyzes the causes of the decline of Lanzhou Guzi.From the perspective of inheritance and protection,we aim to explore how to protect this kind of traditional Chinese opera,further to make it a better inheritance and promotion of China’s outstanding traditional culture,so as to strengthen cultural confidence and promote the prosperity of socialist culture of China.
