This paper is a reflective report of an interview interpreting.On June 12,2017,an interview on the theme of “Cultural Differences Between China and America” was carried out at Language Leader,a language training school in Changchun.Ms Wang Liyan,a teacher of Changchun Automobile Industry Institute,was specially invited as the interviewer,while the Education Director of Language Leader,David,accepted the interview.The author was the consecutive interpreter(E-C/C-E)for the interview on the spot,and this report is based on the transcribed text of the interview.After the integration of the representative problems having appeared in the process of interpreting,coping strategies were put forward correspondingly.In this report,the background of the interpreting task is first introduced,and the preparation for the interview is reviewed.After that,the transcribed text is analyzed.Next,the problems appeared in the interpreting process are summed up as self-imposed logic,inappropriate interpretation of proper nouns,obscure expressions,overuse of speech fillers and improper repetition.Correspondingly,the strategies are presented including asking for uncertain information,inferring from the context,further explaining key information,interrupting speakers in due course and maintaining a reasonable speed.In addition,Appendix II includes two pieces of feedback of the interviewee and the interviewer towards the author's interpretation,referring to Interpretation and Evaluation of Ms Cai Xiaohong,and this adds to objective assessment of the author's interpreting.
