Rwanda,a landlocked country in central and eastern Africa,is mainly inhabited by three ethnic groups:Hutu,Tutsi and TWA.On April 6th 1994,the plane which have President Juvenal Habyarimana of Rwanda was shot down near the capital Kigali,the next day Rwanda was caught in a 100-day horrors-the Rwandan genocide.This article takes the Rwanda genocide documentary as the text reading object,collates the more influential Rwanda genocide documentary produced by different countries between 1994 and 2017,classifies,summarizes and analyzes,from three dimensions:"identity confirmation","the power of others" and "the awakening of consciousness",analyzes the significance of Holocaust documentary for Rwanda genocide’s historical representation and realistic thinking.First of all,it can be seen from the documentary film that the Rwandan Holocaust is not an accidental historical event.The main reason is the people of Rwandan loss their identity.For a long time,the fight between Tutsi and Hutu has never been stopped,and the hatred of racism has been buried in the hearts of the oppressed Hutu.With the entry of the Western colonial powers,the identity of Rwandans were reconstituted,the new hierarchy not only made Rwandans lose themselves,but also let the vestiges of history have a new outlet of anger,and the Rwandan Holocaust broke out.Secondly,another important part of Rwanda documentary is western countries.From 1994 to 2017,most of the producers of Rwanda Holocaust documentary are American,French,Britain,and then gradually by Chinese,Japanese,Russian and other countries.Western countries,whether in the film or in reality,whether soft or hard power,there have absolute advantages than Africa.Historically,Africa has been an uncivilized piece of land in the eyes of the West,and Africa is still the object of scrutiny and ruminate in contemporary society.The mentality of the Western countries is reflected in their films and television productions,and in the Rwandan Holocaust documentary produced by the Western countries,Rwanda’s image is poor,violent and ugly,emphasizing the suffering of Africa through the words of trauma.As an efficient tool,in the process of cross-cultural communication,media carries not only information,but also economic,political and cultural signals from different countries,leading to each film has the others will,record,confession,curiousness,utility ect...While it is impossible to deny the practical significance of these documentaries,but the humanistic value of the work is missing because of it is stripping out Rwanda’s own.With the 2004 movie" Rwanda Hotel"Rwanda was once again pushed to the eyes of the people of the world,and the people of Rwanda were inspired and began to work on film and television.And then the Rwandan film pioneer,Alec Kebora,made the first film in Rwanda." 100 Days" Was followed by a documentary" The guardian of memory".There are also more and more people who accept foreign scenes and tell stories about themselves and their countries.Therefore,the Rwanda theme documentary has a new leap,whether from the narrative perspective,or from the narrative purposes,or narrative methods,there is a new breakthrough.Women and children have become the main narrative object of the documentary,trauma treatment and spiritual guidance instead of news reports become the main narrative purposes,and the narrative methods tend to weaken the illustration,,combine points to entirety.After 2010,Rwanda’s political and economic reconstruction process was fast and stable,known as the "miracle of development on the African continent." the documentary works also had a new focus,reflecting economic development,showing the strength of the country,and enhancing the confidence of the people,stabling political forming has become the foothold of the documentary film of the new period.
