Research On Lu Xun's Religious Thought In The View Of Modern Chinese History

Based on modern Chinese history,guided by the theory of Marxism and the outlook of Marxism religion,this paper takes Lu Xun's religious thought as the object of study,relatively comprehensively expounds the basic content of Lu xun's religious thought and its changing process,and reveals the reasons for such changes.Lu Xun's observation and evaluation on religious phenomena showed a obviously periodical change.Lu Xun's youth,especially the period studying in Japan,belonged to the early stage of ideological development.Influenced by the trend of the times,Lu Xun paid much attention on the basic problems of religion—such as the origin of religion,the relationship between religion and myth,between religion and social reform,between religion and development of science and technology,between religion and culture and art—and the characteristics of Chinese traditionally patriarchal religion and its significance to culture and folk custom,about which Lu Xun expressed his distinctive insights.However,young Lu Xun's thought had not yet mature until then,and he could not be very accurate to judge Chinese actual situation and the general trend of the world,so he was hard to avoid the limitations of times and suggestion of partly restoring to the ancients.These constitute the basic contents of the first chapter of this article.After Lu Xun returned China and got in touch with the actual situation of Chinese,his religious increasingly showed different characteristics from the previous stage: first,he had no intention on the basic problem of religion,but was mainly based on the realistic need to comment on the specific religions;second,differing from early pretty favorable attitude towards traditionally patriarchal religion and Buddhism,he profoundly exposed and criticized religion's negative effects through anaesthetizing and deceiving working people in the process of national revolution,although he had not completely denied the positive significance of religion.The paper tries to grasp Lu Xun's core viewpoint of criticism for the specific religions,and interprets in depth,and explores their modern meanings.But not limited to some of the views of Lu Xun,such as that the Buddhist was "dead",that Lao Tzu was retro "Heroes",that Hinayana was better than Theravada,the writer expresses the personal opinions.These constitute the contents of the second chapters of this article.Of course,the focus on the content in the first and the second chapter are relative.In order to make the text convenient and the discussion concentrate,some places will be adjusted.The third chapter is the emphasis of this article.Relying on the system and logic of Lu Xun's thought,combining Chinese modern history with the characteristics of Chinese traditional culture and religious history of development,and guided by Marx's relevant discussions after being interpreted creatively,the writer takes Lu Xun's religious thought as a whole and thoroughly analyzed them,in the hope of showing the changing logic and reasons of Lu Xun's religious thought,the historical situation and historical mission reflected,and the significant impact of Marxism on the advanced intellectuals that should not be ignored.Among them,the critical analysis for the reasons why did Lu Xun in youth praise highly the social role of religion and why did Lu Xun failed with the path of "Liren" with the help of religion,and so on,are the concentrated expression of innovative thinking in the whole chapter and even the whole paper.
