A Report On E-C Translation Of 2016 Consumer Fixed Broadband Performance In The United States (Excerpt)

Development of society and economy in China has considerably boasted by progress of fixed broadband performance.It not only has brought convenience to people's daily life,but has boosted the comprehensive strength of the country to usher in a new era.Compared with the United States,however,China is still at the initial stage of the statistics and analysis of fixed broadband efficiency.Accordingly,E-C translation of 2016 Consumer Fixed Broadband Performance in the United States has a great significance for improving the ability of fixed broadband data analysis and promoting development of the broadband industry more reasonable in China.The principal part of 2016 Consumer Fixed Broadband Performance in the United States has introduced the development of American fixed broadband in 2016 from the aspects of the summary of key findings,methodology and test results.As a representative informative text,the main purpose of the source language text is to provide and share information to the reader.Two key language features has been concluded by the author.Firstly,in the lexical level,terminology,semi-terminology and abbreviation have widely applied in the original text.Moreover,in the syntactic level,passive sentences and compound sentences have frequently been used in the source language text which has a complex logic relationship existing in the inside of one sentence and between different sentences.Additionaly,this report has included a large number of statistical charts and tables.Bearing the features of informative text,guided by the commnucative translation of Newmark,some strategies like transliteration,literal translation,amplification and division have been adopted in case analysis,especially in the aspects of terms,sentences,charts and tables.This report has primarily attached on E-C translation strategies of informative text with fixed broadband performance in America as a background.The translation practice has only been successfully completed by fully grasping the situation and language features of the original text.Under obedience of principle of accuracy and faithfulness,what we should do in translation of the target text is not only more flexible methods in lexical and syntactic level of language expression,but more strong attention in the logical relationship of the context.To amplify communicative meaning as far as possible,intention and readership of target text should be clearly in translator's mind no matter what strategies can be expected to use.
