| Xu Yuanchong's literary translation theories develop from useful Chinese literary translation theories and discard what is not.In the translation of traditional Chinese poetry,Xu Yuanchong has set up Three-Beauty Translation Theory,which means good translation of poetry should achieve the Three-Beauty: beauty in sense,beauty in sound,and beauty in form.Three-Beauty Translation Theory is a kind of aesthetic standard,which is widely used in the translation of traditional Chinese Tang and Song Ci poetry.The English translation of Song Ci poetry is an important part of the study of Xu Yuanchong's translation activities.With the support of some concepts from stylistics,this thesis,which is based on Xu Yuanchong's Three-Beauty Translation Theory,aims to test whether Xu Yuanchong's translation of Chinese-English 300 Song Lyrics has realized the beauty in sense,beauty in sound,and beauty in form.Analyzing the Chinese-English 300 Song Lyrics translated by Xu Yuanchong,combining with the method of the comparative study,and making analysis of the English translation,this thesis aims to further study the guiding significance of Three-Beauty Translation Theory in the translation of Song Ci Poetry.This thesis uses Xu Yuanchong's Three-Beauty Translation Theory to testify whether the translation of Chinese-English 300 Song Lyrics achieves beauty in meaning,sound,and form.After studying the original Ci poems and the English translation of Ci poems in Chinese-English 300 Song Lyrics,conclusion can be drawn that the beauty in meaning and sound have been achieved properly.The beauty in form is achieved not as well as the other two aspects.The use of all the Three-Beauty in the translation of Chinese-English 300 Song Lyrics was in a minority.Xu Yuanchong's theory is quite convincing for its innovative value and prospect.His theory of literary translation develops from his translation practice,which plays a guiding role in translating Ci poetry. |
