On C-E News Translation From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

With the enhancement of China's national strength and its international status,more and more Chinese news is translated into English for the purpose of publicity.News has its own unique style and characteristics.In addition to following the general translation principle of informative text,news translation should take into account the particularity of news texts.Due to the characteristics of timeliness,accuracy and flexibility of news,the main characteristics of the news writing should be reflected in the translation,which means the translated version should be concise and understandable,smooth and natural.Today,news translation serves as an important tool for the world to understand China and for the shaping of China's good image.Therefore news translation is of great significance because of its huge influence,wide audience and direct effect.So news translation should arouse our enough attention.In 2017,the author took online C-E news translation internship in Shanghai Venture Language Services Co.,Ltd for 4 months,during which the author participated in the company's translation project of Shanghai Second Polytechnic University.Together with 13 other translators,the author translated each piece of Chinese news into the English.The present study is based on the translation practice which the author was engaged in.Based on the author's practice of translation project of Shanghai Second Polytechnic University of Shanghai Venture Language Services Co.,Ltd,this paper discusses the translation of Chinese news into English from the perspective of eco-translatology.The paper first introduces Hu Gengshen's theory of eco-translatology,expounds the key concepts and core ideas as well as the application of eco-translatology in news translation.Then the author discusses the preparation before translation,translation process and post-translation work,in which the stylistic features and translation requirements of news are dealt with.On the basis of this,the paper analyzes C-E news translation from the perspective of three-dimensions(i.e.,linguistic dimension,cultural dimension and communicative dimension)and post-event penalty.Moreover,three types of typical mistranslations,namely,missing translation,Chinglish,and wrong expressions are also discussed.The last chapter summarizes the whole paper.It is hoped that this study can provide some reference for the further in-depth exploration of C-E news translation.
