| Amy Marcy Cheney Beach(1867-1944)is the first successful female composer who creates the large-scale music works in America.And she is also well known as the most accomplished woman composer in the second New England music faction.Besides,she is highly praised by the world orchestra.Most of Amy’s works have been published before her death,her music works can be divided into three periods.This paper analyzes the representatives of Amy’s piano pieces in the late period(1910-1943).That means this paper mainly talks about the six piano works: A Hermit Thrush At Eve op.92,Fantasia Fugata op.87,Nocturne op.107,Scherzino op.128,Out of the Depths op.130 and besations op.148.This paper mainly analyzes and explores the six piano works from the aspects of background information,music,theme analysis and performance.The thesis is divided into three parts: the introduction,the three chapters and the conclusion.The introduction summarizes her life and the basic creative characteristics of her works as well as the brief introduction and background information of her late piano works.In the first chapter,it briefly describes the theme,the music structure and the tone of her each late piano works with the performance.In the second chapter,it illustrates the melody features of theme,the beat,the rhythm,the intensity,the speed and the performance techniques of the piano works.In the third chapter,it explains the grace notes,soft pedals,free extension marks and finger interpretation and it also lists and analyzes how to deal with the rich and varied piano textures.The conclusion summarizes the research results of this paper.Finally,it is hoped that this paper will provide a useful reference for the deep understanding and grasp of Amy’s late piano works,which can give a better interpretation of the thinking mode and emotional logic that the composer wants to express. |
