The Gu Zheng chamber duet piece Wei Rui was composed by Professor Zhao Xi in 2003.The piece has awarded the third prize of the TMSK Liu Tian Hua Prize for Chinese ethnic chamber music and an honorable mention of the Sixth China Golden Bell Award,is undoubtedly a masterpiece of modern Gu Zheng music.This article takes this piece as the subject,analyzes its composing background,composing techniques,performing skills and aesthetic value by the means of interviewing the composer,musically analyzing the piece,and reviewing the author's own performing experiences.As a composer,professor Zhao has inherited the traditional techniques and artistic characteristics of Gu Zheng,and interconnected these with western modern composing skills,explored and innovated the Gu Zheng chamber music from various aspects such as composing techniques and performance form.This article analyzes the musical structure and performing skills of Wei Rui,especially from these three aspects: special application of common skills;unique skills and their performing instructions;performance processing and timbre arrangement.This article explains and unscrambles the re-creation of the piece,provides helps and references for performers to master the performing skills and to control the aesthetic style of this piece.
