The Study Of News Translation In Chinese Version From The Perspective Of Ideology

With the development of globalization,the importance of information communication is self-evident.Plenty of international news,especially English news,is translated into Chinese every day.Reference News,focusing on international news reports,has become China's most popular daily newspaper in circulation.It highlights Chinese audience's huge demands for learning the world as well as China's image in foreign media.On the one hand,we expect to read the original reports in foreign media.On the other hand,as a tool of political propaganda,the media often rewrite the original texts to conform to the mainstream ideology.Therefore,ideology plays a crucial role in specific political environment,international relations and global landscape.The original data are mainly drawn from foreign newspapers,such as New York Times,Financial Times,Washington Post,and the corresponding Chinese version is mainly from domestic newspaper: Reference News.Based on Andre Lefevere's rewriting theory,this thesis carries out a detailed study on the global news from perspective of ideology from 2016 to 2017 to demonstrate the influences and manipulations of ideology on global news from the three aspects: readers' horizons of expectation,national interests and national emotions.In addition,the thesis attempts to investigate the translation strategies of the translators in order to comply with domestic ideology.The author concludes that news translation delivers certain information to domestic readers through potential ideology,thus achieving the goal of promoting national positive image.The translator's rewriting of the original must be constrained by certain ideology and we can comprehend the international relations and interests of the disputes reflected in the translation.In addition,the thesis provides us an enlightening way to interpret the translators' rewriting from a more critical perspective.
