A Comparative Study On The Motion Verbs Of Zuozhuan And Shiji

The dynastic study is the primary task in studying the development history of Chinese language.Special books and special studies are basic works for the dynastic study.ZuoZhuan and ShiJi are important materials for the study of Chinese history.ZuoZhuan is rich in language and materials,and has distinctive characteristics of the times.It provides a wealth of information for studying the language phenomenon of the pre-Qin period.ShiJi is an actual record of the language in the Qin and Han dynasties,which has a high value in linguistics research.The time span of“Zuo Zhuan”to “Shi Ji” is about 300 years.In this period,the whole society has made great changes in politics,economy and culture,which has influenced the language.The motion verbs are an important category in Chinese common verbs.In order to investigate the whole appearance and evolution of the motion verbs in two books,we choose the motion verbs in two books as the object of study.Then we use the concept field theory,adopts the quantitative survey statistics,synchronic and diachronic combination,and a combination of description and interpretation.Finally,we summarize the characteristics of evolution and try to explore the causes of evolution.Five parts consist the paper.The first part is the introduction.It clarifies the reason and value of the topic,determines the source and object of the corpus,and introduces the present research situation,research ideas and methods.In the second part,we classify the semantic fields of motion verbs in ZuoZhuan and ShiJi,and systematically sort out the distribution of motion verbs in the two books.Then,we compare the changes in the motion verbs and the frequency of occurrence of the same motion verbs in the two books.In the third part,we select the high frequency motion verbs in two books for semantic and grammatical analysis.In terms of semantics,and we use the “conceptual element analysis method”to examine the changes in the concept elements of themotion verbs in the two books.At the same time,we pay attention to the enhancement and weakening of verbs ’ meaning and the changes of other senses.In terms of grammar,we mainly examine the specific changes in the motion verbs with objects in the two books.It includes whether to take the object,the characteristics of the object,and the way with the object and the change of the ability to take the object.In addition,we pay attention to the use of the motion verbs.The fourth part summarizes the overall changes of the motion verbs from ZuoZhuan to Shi Ji.We examine the development and change of the motion verbs from the aspects of the number and composition of the members,the status of the members,the frequency of use,and the conceptual elements of words and the grammatical changes.Finally,we try to sum up the characteristics and reasons of evolution.The fifth part is the conclusion of the full text.
