| This is a translation report on the Singapore Limited Liability Partnership Act.The Singapore Limited Liability Partnership Act mainly discusses the establishment,registration of limited partnerships and the rights and obligations of partners.The translation of the Singapore Limited Liability Partnership Act serves a good reference for the Chinese partnership law.In the process of Chinese translation,the author finds that the existence of vagueness poses certain difficulties for translation,so she should focus on solving the vagueness in the legal text.By introducing Joanna Channell’s classifications of vague language,namely,vague additives,vague words,and vague implicature,the author has investigated into the translation skills for vagueness,such as addition,omission,negation and conversion.In the process of applying these skills,the author found that,compared with other skills,omission and addition are more helpful in translating vagueness.A practical application of these translation skills to handle the vagueness in the legislative language can not only enhance the accuracy of legal translation,but also help the target readers understand the source language. |
