Study On The Setting Of General Education Curriculum In Foreign Language Colleges And Universities

On the basis of comprehensive analysis and combing of the literature on general education in foreign language colleges and universities at home and abroad,the study aims at constructing a general education curriculum which meets the needs of foreign language talents development in accordance with the orientation of foreign language universities and the target of talent training.First,analyzing the current status of general education curriculum in seven representative foreign language colleges and universities in China,and comparing with the characteristics of general education curriculum in comprehensive universities and science and technology colleges and universities,the paper combs and concludes the characteristics of general education in foreign language colleges and universities.Secondly,taking the current general education curriculum of Sichuan International Studies University as an example,the relevant data of the curriculum construction is obtained by literature research method and investigation method,and the existing problems and causes of the general education curriculum in foreign language colleges and universities are analyzed in combination with the characteristics of individual and commonness.Finally,the improvement strategy of curriculum construction is put forward.Combining the existing research conclusions and survey data in this study,it is found that the general education curriculum of foreign language colleges and universities has its unique features and advantages in curriculum objectives,curriculum principles,curriculum system,and curriculum implementation.Therefore,the curriculum of general education in foreign language colleges should adhere to the professional features of foreign language colleges and universities,and maintain their unique characteristics.The construction of the curriculum should be based on the development of foreign language colleges and universities and the needs of students' development.This study combines the results of the above demonstration,and puts forward the framework of general education curriculum for foreign language colleges and universities,including compulsory courses and elective courses.Among general education compulsory courses,mathematical courses are added,and the general education elective courses are subdivided into Chinese traditional culture and historical inheritance,philosophy wisdom and critical thinking,aesthetic taste and artistic appreciation,practical literacy and skills,social research and scientific spirit and.Although there are still some shortcomings in the curriculum framework constructed in this study,it still hopes to promote the continuous improvement of general education curriculum construction in foreign language colleges and universities.
