As a representative figure of the post-impressionism of the 19 th century,Gauguin's works of art influenced many artists of later generations, and his dramatic life made him more mysterious. This article is roughly divided into three parts. The first is to explain my understanding of nature and spiritual hometown, and analyze the hometown of Gauguin. The second part mainly starts with Gauguin's oil paintings and prints, and studies the “image bank” created by Gauguin's from the formal language of paintings, and analyzes how the regional nature of nature is represented in Gauguin's artistic creation. It also reveals how Gauguin used his art to build his spiritual hometown. At this point,he is no longer confined to symbolism, comprehensiveism and even the so-called "post-impressionist" artists. What he pursues is the common spirit of humanity. Finally, combining my own creative practice,I explored the relationship between emotion, art, and hometown.
