National English Curriculum Standards for General High School elaborates that the requirements of comprehensive language competence is the integration of language skills,language knowledge,emotional attitude,learning strategies and cultural awareness.This paper mainly studies the comprehensive language competence of English literacy of high school graduates.According to the detailed description of the seven-level standard of comprehensive language competence in National English Curriculum Standards for General High School,this study selects 300 high school graduates as subjects to conduct a survey.The survey investigates students' competence from five aspects,language skills,language knowledge,emotional attitude,learning strategies and cultural awareness.The author explores the Questionnaire on High School Students' Comprehensive Language Competence to test 300 high school graduates.This questionnaire is designed according to the detailed description of the seven-level standard of comprehensive language competence in National English Curriculum Standards for General High School.The scale in the questionnaire have been tested,reliability and validity are both good.With a quantitative method,the study collects the questionnaire data and students' English entrance examination scores.The main results are as follows:(1)Linhai high school graduates' standard level is intermediate(3.3419).As for five dimensions,language skills(3.4725)and learning strategies(3.4472)are good,but cultural awareness is the worst among five dimensions.(2)Through Pearson analysis,the scores of comprehensive language competence of Linhai high school graduates and the scores of students' English entrance examination present a significant positive correlation(r= 0.54,p= 0.01).Language skills(r= 0.555,p= 0.01),language knowledge(r= 0.492,p= 0.01),learning strategies(r= 0.567,p= 0.01)and emotional attitude(r= 0.479,p= 0.01)also present a significant positive correlation with students' English entrance examination scores,but cultural awareness present a low positivecorrelation with students' English entrance examination scores.(3)By multiple linear regression analysis,there is a significant positive correlation and a causal relationship between non-linguistic factors(emotional attitude,learning strategies and cultural awareness)and linguistic factors(language skills,language knowledge).This research has supplemented the research on students' comprehensive language competence,which has practical significance.The results provide information of present study on students' comprehensive language competence,and give suggestions to adjust teaching method according to students' actual condition and give students more efficient instructions,and help students know their own comprehensive language competence better.
