| Plague is a major disaster in the development of human society.In China,plagues have occurred frequently since ancient times,and the epidemic in the region of Gansu province during the Qing dynasty was an important part of the plague in the history of China.The study of its occurrence,development,and prevention and control of historical plagues not only restores the true face of history,but also contributes slightly to the research of emerging historical medical geography.It also has important implications for the prevention and reduction of human diseases and the protection of people’s health.History significance.Through a comprehensive search,solicitation of a large number of relevant historical data,the main epidemic occurred in the Gansu Qing Dynasty plague,smallpox,cholera,diphtheria,measles,whooping cough,scarlet fever,dysentery and so on.During the 268 years of the Qing dynasty,there were a total of 36 epidemic years,and an epidemic occurred every 7.4 years.The frequency of epidemics was13%.From the point of view of seasonal distribution,the epidemic occurred mostly in the summer and autumn,and it rarely occurred in spring and winter.The frequency of the epidemic in the pre-middle and early stages was relatively low in the DPRK.Since the Xianfeng period,the frequencies of the epidemic in Tongzhi and Guangxu have increased.Respectively,it reached 62.9% and 32.3%,far higher than that of other dynasties;in terms of spatial distribution,64 disasters occurred in 32 counties in total.The focus of the epidemic in the early Qing period was in the eastern and southern regions,and the center of gravity of the mid-term epidemic began to bias.In the central region,the focus of the epidemic is basically distributed in the central and central regions of the Loess Plateau and the east of Gansu,and the Hexi Corridor region in the northwest has fewer epidemics.The spatial distribution of the epidemic has shown regional characteristics.The occurrence of the epidemic in the Gansu region during the Qing period was related to climate,topography,famine,war,environmental health,and the distribution of population.The immediate consequence was a large number of deaths.The people’s understanding of the epidemic has basically remained at a relatively superstitious stage.The concept of ghosts and gods has become widespread.There arealso many irrationalities in the awareness of epidemic prevention.In this period of lack of epidemic prevention measures,it is very important to save the epidemic.Whenever there is an outbreak,the government,local squire and the general public will take different measures to prevent and control epidemic outbreaks.In the rescue measures of all walks of life,ordinary people are more flexible and more targeted in responding to the epidemic than the government.Because of this,it has gradually become the main bearer of the epidemic prevention and control.With the outbreak of the Opium War,Western medicine began to spread to China.In the fourteenth year of Guangxu(1888),Western medicine was introduced into Gansu.People’s public health awareness and public health organizations have undergone great changes.Many churches based on Western medicine have undergone major changes.The hospital was set up throughout Gansu Province,which promoted the modernization of Gansu medicine and the development of epidemic prevention. |
