Chengdu is located in the Chengdu Plain, which belongs to hinterland of Sichuan.Chengdu dialect belongs to Guanchi area of Sichuan dialect.Noun affix in Chengdu dialect is rich.Especially noun affix which is commonly used has a strong dialect character. Therefore we obtain materials through the investigation to Chengdu dialect, and collect foundation materials in the more widespread areas. We attempt to more comprehensively and systematically reflect the appearance of commonly used noun affix in Chengdu dialect. We want to highlight the special characteristic of the Chengdu dialect noun affix. The first chapter is the introduction, and mainly introduced the geographical position, the humanities survey, characters of Chengdu dialect, topic range, significance of the topic, research methods, corpus source. As the provincial capital of Sichuan Province,Chengdu has a long history and profound culture. As a representative dialect of Southwestern Mandarin,Chengdu dialect is widely distributed, with a large population and a high degree of internal consistency. This article focuses on describing six commonly used nominal suffixes in Chengdu dialects, using description methods, and strives to describe and analyze each noun suffix from different aspects in depth. At the same time,it tries to explain some linguistic phenomena in a reasonable way.The corpus collected in this article mainly originates from Chengdu local chronicles,Sichuan local chronicles, dialect dictionaries and some Sichuan dialect literary works. The second chapter is a summary of studies on modern Chinese affix, and mainly introduced affix definition, affix judgment criteria, affix classification, the research status of Chengdu dialect affixes. At present, the terminology of affixes is defined in a wide variety of ways, and each one is justified, but everyone is still accustomed to using terms such as affixes and affixes.Regarding the criteria for the determination of affixes,we reached consensus on three aspects: the fixed position of the affixes, the affixes are not morphemes, and the semantic ambiguity of affixes. At the same time, academia currently makes different classifications of modern Chinese affixes from theaspects of syllables, the nature of forming words, and the position of roots, and strives to make the research of affixes deeper and more transparent. The author found that the results of studying the affixes of the Chengdu dialect were scarce. The only results were simple analysis of the usage of some affixes of the Sichuan dialect. Therefore, the author believes that the research space for the affixes of the Chengdu dialect is still large and expects richer results to come out.The third chapter mainly comprehensively and systematically studies the situation of “Tou” affix and “Zi” affix in Chengdu dialect from three aspects: word formation, comparison with Mandarin, function analysis. In the case of the “Zi” affix and “Tou” affix, the two affixes are described from three aspects in detail: syllable, nature of word, and semantic category.Compared with Mandarin,In Chengdu dialect,"Zi" affix and “Tou” affix have its unique and distinctive features, and there are still many differences. As far as the function analysis is concerned, the author summarizes the three functions of “Zi” affix from the two aspects of word formation and pragmatics: constructing new words, pejorative meanings, and express affectionate affection. The "Tou" suffix mainly has the function of constructing words, distinguishing the role of rational meaning, and to a certain extent has a small meaning. The fourth chapter mainly discusses the “Er” affix and “Xie” affix on the basis of previous studies. The “Er” affix appears in great number and with high frequency in Chengdu dialect, among which the case where “Er”is used as suffix needs particular studying. The thesis revolves around the situations where “Er” is used as non-syllables and suffixes respectively, comparing these of Chengdu dialect to those of Chinese mandarin and categorizing the 4 different functions of the “Er” affix. The“Xie” affix is also widely used in Chengdu dialect. It could be attached to the end of most nouns, several noun phrases in paratactic pattern as well as some pronouns to indicate plurality. In the mean time,it could also be used in various semantic aspects, among which the function of reference in particular needs detailed explanation.Besides, the “Xie” affix has multiple pragmatic uses, which I thereby sum up into 4main points: to indicate affection, drawing closer different interlocutors;to indicatethe strong dissatisfaction or sarcasm;to indicate relaxation or indifference;to indicate contempt or disgust. The fifth chapter mainly discusses the “Men” affix and “Huo” affix based on the sporadic research of predecessors. As the special plural noun suffixes of the Chengdu dialect, the “Men” and the “Huo” suffixes are widely used and have a great influence. This chapter firstly explores the scope of two affixes, then compares “Men” suffix with “Huo” suffix, and further compares the two affixes with the "Xie" suffixes. Finally,I predict the development trend of “Men” affix and the origin of the "Huo" suffix. The third, fourth, fifth chapter is the focus and difficulty of this article.
