Science means a lot in the informational society,as people become more interested in popular science,English-Chinese translation of the materials related to those topics are becoming more important.Commissioned by Qingdao Publishing House,the book to be translated is The History of Cycling in Fifty Bikes,written by Tom Ambrose,a famous American writer.It is a technical work,published by the company of The History Press Ltd in 2014.The original text is made up of fifty chapters and about sixty thousand words.This book is not only scientific,professional,and informative,but also literary,interesting,and popular.By reading the book,readers can acquire scientific knowledge with interest,and improve their recognition of the bicycle field.The book has been translated by a five-person team,the author of the report translates the original text of the 42-50 Chapters into Chinese.The translation is guided by the principle of Katharina Reiss' s text typology and from the perspective of lexicon,sentences and discourse.There are five parts in this report.Part One describes the translation task,with translation instructions and an analysis of the significance of the translation project.Part Two presents a brief introduction to the original text.Part Three deals with the whole translation process,including preparation,the making of the first draft,revision,and the creation of the final version.Part Four is mainly about the analysis of the translation under the guidance of text typology.In Part Five,the author summarizes the whole translation process.
