Research On The Construction Of Sewer In Chongqing (1937—1949)

In 1937,the War of Resistance Against Japan broke out comprehensively,and the national government moved to Chongqing.At the same time,Chongqing changed from a regional central city to the focus of China even the whole world,and Chongqing's urban construction has also been rapidly developed.The second year after the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan,the national government mandated “Draft of Ten-year Planning on the Construction of the Second Capital”,and this was the first time to plan for Chongqing's urban construction comprehensively.Sewer works,Liangjiang Bridge and North truck line were also called “three major projects”,and sewerage engineering was the most important.Before 1946,China had only two sewer systems,and both were built by foreigners,and Chongqing sewer project was the first modern sewer project in the history of Chinese cities,and it was the milestone project in that time.In this article,Chongqing sewer construction from 1937 to 1949 is considered as the object of study.Firstly,it expounds the preliminary development and promotion of the construction of sewer in wartime and analyzes the shortcomings and achievements in the construction of the sewer construction.Then,the article says after the victory of the war of resistance against Japan,the sewerage engineering department of Chongqing was established,and the construction of Chongqing sewer system began to take up the pace of modernization at this stage.Lastly,it analyzes the characteristics,contribution and limits of Chongqing's sewer construction.Chongqing city sewer construction can't be developed so rapidly without the historical status of Chongqing is the second capital in China,in this process,many achievements have been achieved,and there are also many shortcomings.But sewer construction,as an important part of municipal construction,is not only a project to benefit the people,but also is of great significance to the construction of a modern city.
